1:57 it sounds like you said "Nibenay" and if that's true then the name is a reference to Elder Scrolls, specifically Elder Scrolls IV. Nibenay is an area of Cyrodiil with lots of small lakes not unlike this map

I'm new to AW but as a 5+0 live chess player I wanna add to tip #8. It's extremely helpful to imagine what the good/best moves are for your opponent so you can plan accordingly on the next turn. I'm assuming the same applies in AW too, especially when units are within attacking range of each other. Since there's so much more to keep track of in AW than chess, you don't necessarily have to do this for each of your opponent's units but the important details of the current position. Here's some things you can ask yourself and anticipate during your opponent's time. 1) What is a decent/threatening unit formation my opponent can execute on the next turn and how can this cause me problems down the line? If so, how can I counter it or respond? 2) By observing previous actions/turns, what points of interests are my opponents aiming for? (Properties, terrain, your weak units, etc) 3) What type of units are my opponent likely to build provided their current income/funds?

Picking the mega tank is literally the same as picking the heavy in TF2. High firepower for the front of your push, but slow, and easy to exploit.

Why does Eagle not get increment for his extra turn? In AW2 there obviously is no timer, but Eagle essentially gets "reasource" in the form of being able to move al his vehicles again. If we add a new resource (time) shouldn't he get that for his extra turn too?

I think instead of win on timeout (the way chess does it), if you run out of time, your turn is over and your next 3 turns your units do nothing. Then you play as normal while getting the increment of your skipped turns. Now in chess, you can't just not take your turn, that would be illegal. In AW, you can sit around doing nothing.

Just please add campaign and war room I love PvE, suck at PVP . which is why I loved Advance wars

Sturm didn't have a normal CO power in AW2 and in AW1 he only had his Metor strike. I understand why they wanted to use the AW1 version of Sturm, but if that was the case, then they should have made his normal power do 1 damage so that the "obvious" choice would be to go for the Superpower and the 4 damage. Being able to do half damage for half the power charge gives him flexibility that he normally didn't have. You could be like "oh there is that large clump of units and I just need them on 8 HP to wallbreak... hey let me launch it." If his normal power only did 1 damage, it would be a rarely used power like Andy's Hyperrepair. But I think encouraging the Sturm player to wait for the SCOP should be how it goes.

I wish on time that they only count K/D of units instead of cities to encourage the guy ahead in properties to attack. But while I complain about a few things of AWBW (like the transport copter fog of war bug, Urban Blight, Comm towers), I won't ding too many points for it. After all, having the player with the most properties win when time runs out is faithful to the cartridge.

I think you can have an interesting map with naval units if you could make 160 by 160s. Put a continent in the center with the HQs but some islands with many properties and you could have some interesting tactics. I think if you could make bigger maps with more properties but have each property worth 300 per turn (but have more total properties on the map and start with at least 3K income on turn 1) then even airports wouldn't completely invalidate naval units. But if you want to squeeze enough terrain for interesting fights, there normally isn't room for expensive battleships in most games. I say most since in this case the battleship did very well.

Given that your missile never fired and you didn't make a single rocket, this really shows how much better Max is compared to Jess in fog. it would be funny if it continued until you HQ capped him and your missiles took a few potshots though.

I feel like bombers doing extra damage to mechs is a balance decision. The devs probably hit a weird strat in testing and wanted mechs to be one shot on plains, but not infantry. My best guess is mech spam was maybe too good on airport maps for zoning out bombers and still being able to kill vehicles? Whereas having infantry live with 1 hp on plains is not as big a deal.

TIL infantry and mechs have fuel. I ahve been playing these games since they came out and it has NEVER come up. XD

i never had a gba so was out of the loop on advance wars, but even i knew advance wars was renowned for it's pixel art. such a smooth brain move to completely disregard this and make everything look like a (cheap!) plastic toy.

7:30 the graphics toggle works when you keep the game the same. we went from 2d to 3d so unless you want a paper mario asthetic it's not going to work.

Back to this video because life is good and relaxing a little bit is just what is needed sometimes.
